A CITY OF CATHAY

Talk about a flexible medium! This CD-ROM presents A City of Cathay, an
18th-century handscroll that measures 38' long by 14" high. The original
is in the National Palace Museum in Taipei.

Taiwan. The handscroll recounts daily lift in a Chinese city on the day of the
Ching-ming Festival. It reveals all of the day's activities and provides a
fascinating historical glimpse into Chinese society.
Although the disc allows you to scroll through it and read excellent descriptions
of the secitions, the real beauty is the ability to select subjects
(animals, transportation, entertainment),
zoom in on sections, and vew animations of a variety of customs.

Bottom Line: An absolutely captivating and beautiful disc, infinitely easy to use.
Art libraries and Asia collections will want this.
